Parking & Access
- Use existing parking lot if possible; no inclines
- Well-lit, clearly marked accessible parking spaces close to the entrance
- Safe, single covered entrance and drop-off area with benches for waiting
- Clear, wide, non-slip walkways from parking to the main entrance
- Numerous exit paths from the building
- Handsfree entrance and exit doors
Building & Lobby
- One story that is energy efficient, possibly with solar power
- Great lighting with lots of windows for natural light
- Large lobby to accommodate crowds during events and when needed for a warming and cooling haven
- Registration desk at entrance that is low enough for accessibility by all
- ADA compliant bathrooms with benches & hooks
- Benches in hallways
- Outdoor patio/garden/courtyard
- Indoor walking track with marking to know how far you have walked
- Senex Program/Adult Day Care: designed specifically for that use with its own bathroom
- Backup generators are required for kitchen and remaining building needs
- Filtered water stations
Gym & Courts
- A full gym and half gym with hardwood floors
- 6 pickleball courts & a basketball court; dance and exercise classes also on these courts
- Fewer lines with different colors per sport; don't place volleyball lines
- Elevated platform for teachers
- Climate-controlled environment for physical activities
Pool & Locker Rooms
- Saltwater pool with 6 lanes and deep enough for scuba and lifeguard training
- Chair lift to get in and out of the pool for people with disabilities
- Water temperature regulation for therapeutic swimming, 87-93 degrees
- Pool near main entrance to reduce extra staffing so both pool and other attendees can "swipe" in at same location
- Entrance to pool needs to be ADA compliant; ladders unsafe, need step entrance
- Spacious, non-slip changing areas with more bench seating
- Shower/changing combo with no lip to step over; need more than currently have
- Private/family changing room
- Suitemate swimsuit water extractor in each locker room and multiple wall dryers
- More restrooms than what we currently have
Multipurpose Rooms & Programs
- Multipurpose room large enough for lunches when there are events in the main dining room
- A multipurpose room for creative art classes with a sink and better lighting
- Room with mirrors and dance floor to be used for balance and strength, ballroom dance, yoga, exercise, with raised platform for the instructor
- Library/puzzle area/cafe with light snacks, water, coffee, tea
- Game room with pool table, dart boards, ping pong, corn hole
- Fitness room including treadmills, exercise bikes, resistance training machines, stretching area, free weights, cross training machines like NuStep; trainer from Hawk to teach seniors how to use the equipment several sessions a week
- Room for voting so don't have to close activities for voting
- Rooms for tax prep, support groups, card playing, mahjong
- Physical therapy
Technology & Services
- Enhanced Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the facility
- Accessible tablet stations for digital literacy training
- Centralized information kiosk for upcoming community events
Food Service

Need a larger, commercial kitchen with more refrigeration and ability to warm food; critical need for back up generators

Dining room needs to be larger than current one so more people can go to Dine & Discover and parties

Meals on Wheels program needs access to volunteer cars where loading & unloading has a one way road
